Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons is a valuation services company with a core competency in real estate market analysis. We perform appraisals and consulting services for both residential and commercial properties.

Our team of licensed professionals has a combined appraisal experience of nearly 250 years. Our experience in both residential and commercial valuation provides market insight that is invaluable to our clients.

Meet Our Team

Matt Simmons

Managing Partner

Matt entered the appraisal industry in 2003 as a staff appraiser for Gulf Coast Appraisal & Associates. In 2005, he joined Maxwell & Hendry Valuation Services, Inc. to launch a residential division of the firm. He served as the manager of the residential division until being named a partner in 2013. The firm was then reorganized as Maxwell, Hendry, & Simmons, LLC.

In 2012, Matt was appointed by Governor Rick Scott to serve on the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board. He is the youngest appointee in the history of FREAB and served as the 2014 Chairman. Matt is qualified as an expert witness in Florida District Court: 20th and 7th Judicial Circuits, and in U.S. District Court: Middle District of Florida.

Gerald Hendry

Partner

Gerald became a partner with Maxwell & Hendry Valuation Services in 2003. He possesses an MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute and the CCIM designation from the CCIM Institute; dual designations held by very few professionals in the state of Florida.

Gerald has served as a Special Magistrate for the Lee County Value Adjustment Board and is qualified as an expert witness in Florida District Court, 20th Judicial Circuit. Hendry also served on the Board of Governors and as the President of the Real Estate Investment Society. Regionally, he has served on the Board of Directors and as the Chapter President for the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.

Andy Anderson

Associate Appraiser

Andy has been an Associate Appraiser with Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons since 2018, but his experience goes back much further; he has been active in the real estate appraisal profession since 2004. Andy specializes in valuation and advisory services for public and private sector clients all over the state. Having assisted with almost any appraisal situation imaginable, his knowledge is invaluable to both the Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons team and our clients.

Andy is happy to bring his experience to Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons due the the firm’s high degree of professionalism and expertise. With nearly 250 years of combined experience, Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons is in a league of its own.

Patti Anderson

Customer Service & Operations

Patti has been with Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons since February 2007.

Patti moved to Fort Myers in 1988 from Southington, Ohio. She went to Fort Myers Technical College where she got her certificate in Secretarial Studies.
As someone working in the Customer Service aspect of the company and overseeing the operations in the front office, Patti believes it’s important to always go above and beyond. Her goal is not only to help customers, but also to help the team grow and continue to exceed expectations.

Patti is very interested in swimming, the beach, nutrition, mystery novels, and health and fitness activities. As the friendly and welcoming voice of the firm, Patti takes customer service to heart and truly loves helping people.

Alex Caldwell

Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser

Alex has been employed with Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons since 2015, however he started his career with them back in 2005 as an intern. Alex is now a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser who has made tremendous contributions to the company. His specialty is focused on finance, estate settlement, and the dissolution of marriages.

In between his stay at Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons, Alex received his bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies at Harding University. He also worked as a Mathematics, History, and Human Geography teacher from 2008 to 2016.

Alex enjoys working at Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons because he sees the company’s concern for its clients, the collegial atmosphere, and its dedication to delivering quality work.

Matt Caldwell

Of Counsel

Matt started his appraisal career in 2002 and joined the firm in 2004. With his extensive knowledge and experience in multiple property types and litigation services, he is qualified as an expert witness in multiple states and federal jurisdictions.

As a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2010-2018, Matt served on committees overseeing tax policy, redistricting, insurance, and banking. He also chaired committees related to transportation and infrastructure, agriculture, natural and public lands, military, local, and federal issues, and oversight of government operations like pensions and elections.

He currently serves as the elected Lee County Property Appraiser, and remains of counsel to the firm for properties located outside of Lee County.

Mandy Davis

Research Analyst

Mandy is an experienced real estate research analyst specializing in commercial research and data.

She has served the firm since 2016. Prior to joining the company Mandy honed her expertise in other real estate positions. She has been involved in the appraisal and consulting field since 1993 and is one of our resident experts.

Mandy has always found Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons to have a unique perspective of the Southwest Florida area. There have been many changes over the years and Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons has been a staple in the community witnessing the amazing growth and expansion.

Anjelica Jordan

Trainee Appraiser

Angelica started her real estate appraisal career with Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons in 2022 with a specialty in commercial appraising.  Before coming to Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons, she worked as a personal assistant and research analyst in the commercial brokerage industry.

Angelica went to Florida Gulf Coast University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Finance with a Minor in Business Management. She’s also licensed as a State Registered Trainee Appraiser.

With Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons’ extensive knowledge and experience in real estate, as well as the company’s wide-range spectrum of services and market analysis monitoring, Angelica is confident that Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons is the most capable firm to serve Southwest Florida.

Abby Joyce

Certified General Appraiser

Abby Joyce started with Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons as an intern in 2014. After years of dedication and training, she became a Certified General Appraiser in July 2020. She specializes in both residential and commercial real estate all over Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Naples, and our community’s surrounding islands.

Abby is proud to be a part of the Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons family due to the knowledgeable and friendly nature of both the appraisers and support staff. As Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons is one of the oldest and largest real estate appraisal firms in Southwest Florida, each member of the team carries a vast wealth of experience with them.

Brenda Kaufman

Administrative Support

Originally from New Jersey, Brenda now enjoys the beautiful weather of Southwest Florida. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, after earning a bachelor’s degree in History. Brenda began her work within the appraisal field when she joined the firm in 2010 as an administrative professional. Her duties include administrative responsibilities, assisting in report development, and bookkeeping.

Kyle McClimans

Trainee Appraiser

Kyle graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He is currently a Trainee Appraiser with a focus on residential appraisal, real estate marketing, and property management.

Kyle found his home at Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons when he saw how the company values its employees and customers. The cohesive team structure with a focus on employee satisfaction in addition to making sure each customer receives a personal over and above deliverable makes him feel like a valued member of the team. Being appreciated, rather than feeling like an unimportant cog in a machine, is part of why Kyle loves coming to work each day.

Kathaleen Raub

Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser

Born in Miami and raised in Naples, Kathaleen is a Floridian through and through. She loves boating, fishing, and anything outdoors.

Kathaleen went to Edison State College and began her appraisal journey in 2003. Her enthusiasm for real estate and value appraisal was heavily influenced by her family’s past participation in the real estate industry as real estate contractors and property sales.

Kathaleen specializes in residential valuations of properties in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, and Sarasota counties. She had the privilege to watch Naples grow from a small, sleepy town into an upscale resort town located on the Gulf of Mexico, making her a valuable part of the company’s historical knowledge base.

Jacob Hutchings

Senior Appraiser

Jacob Hutchings is a Senior Appraiser with a focus on large commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties. He is an expert problem-solver and excels in finding solutions for unique properties and situations.

He has been in the appraisal industry since 2007 and holds a BS in Finance from Florida Gulf Coast University and an MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute. Previously, Jacob served as Valuation Services Director at Colliers Valuation and Advisory Services.

Jacob would recommend Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons to anyone for its long history and experience growing alongside Southwest Florida since 1989.

Bruce Stephan

Senior Appraiser

With more than 47 years of real estate appraising experience, assessing a property’s value is no problem for Bruce Stephan.

Bruce is a skilled Southwest Florida valuation professional with 47 years of real estate appraising experience. He graduated from Florida State University – College of Business with a degree in Real Estate. He has been designated as an MAI and SRA by the Appraisal Institute, a worldwide association of professional real estate appraisers.

Bruce established three successful real estate appraisal firms so far in his career. Currently, he’s a Senior Appraiser at Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons, LLC, one of the oldest and most successful real estate appraisal firms in Florida.

Bruce is experienced in all aspects of the appraisal industry specifically in Southwest Florida; however, his specialty is focused on commercial and industrial appraisal.

Emily Stone

Appraiser, Commercial Division

Emily is a registered trainee appraiser focusing on commercial appraisals throughout Fort Myers and Cape Coral. Originally from Northern California, she obtained two Bachelor’s degrees from Sonoma State University and is excited to further develop her real estate expertise in Southwest Florida. Emily is proud to be a part of Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons due to the high level of professionalism and experience within the firm.

Scott Simmons

Residential Division Manager

Scott began his career in the real estate industry as an appraiser in 2003. In 2005, he became part of Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons family. As a State-Certified Real Estate Appraiser, FHA/HUD Approved Appraiser, and State-Certified Real Estate Sales Associate/Realtor, he currently works as a Residential Division Manager overseeing the bidding and assignments pertaining to the residential services offered at Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons.

Scott is very proud to be working at a place where he’s surrounded by dedicated individuals who love what they’re doing.

W. Michael Maxwell, MAI, SRA

Founder

Mike is a third generation native of Miami but grew up in Fort Myers. He returned to Miami to acquire his Associate’s degree from Miami-Dade Junior College. He then earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a major in finance, from the University of Miami. Since graduating from UM in 1974, Mike has lived full-time in Fort Myers. In his free time, he enjoys biking, playing the guitar, tennis, scuba diving, and traveling.

Mike began his professional work within the appraisal industry in 1974 as a staff appraiser for Southeast Mortgage Company in Miami. Later that year, he made the permanent move to Fort Myers to accept an appraiser position with W. Stanley Hanson, MAI. In 1979, Mike cofounded the appraisal firm of Calhoun & Maxwell. In 1983, W. Michael Maxwell & Associates was formed in downtown Fort Myers. That firm is now the present day Maxwell, Hendry, & Simmons, LLC. In 2003, Maxwell & Hendry Valuation Services, Inc. was organized. Mike served as the President from 2003 through 2013 when Maxwell, Hendry, & Simmons, LLC was formed. Professionally, Mike specializes in litigation related valuation work including appraisals for eminent domain, zoning matters, family law, and general civil litigation. Mike also has forensic expertise in the development and review of appraisals for industrial, vacant commercial, and owner occupied office and retail properties.

Mike holds the coveted MAI and SRA designations from the Appraisal Institute. He has served as the President of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers and the Real Estate Investment Society. In addition to his appraisal license, Mike also possesses a real estate broker license. He has served as a Special Magistrate for the Lee County Value Adjustment Board and currently serves as a State-Certified County Court Mediator for the 20th Judicial Circuit. Mike has also been a guest lecturer for several years at Florida Gulf Coast University, Lutgert College of Business. Mike is qualified as an expert witness in Florida District Court, 20th Judicial Circuit, and in U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida.

Retired Staff

Jeff Cooper

Jeff is originally from New Jersey and grew up in New York. While working in the real estate rental business in Manhattan, he decided to escape the northern city life and relocate to Florida. He’s worked in the appraisal industry in here since 1977 and, after working with the firm during the 1980’s, he rejoined Maxwell, Hendry & Simmons in 2015. Jeff holds an Associate’s degree from Suffolk County Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi. Jeff also holds a real estate broker license and has experience with appraisal quality compliance as a former Vice President of a large mortgage lending institution. Jeff has worked as a research analyst for a large commercial brokerage, is a HUD/FHA approved appraiser, and is qualified as an expert witness in Florida District Court: 20th Judicial Circuit, and U.S. District Court: Middle District of Florida. Jeff retired in 2017.

Bill McInnis

Bill is a third generation Floridian from Bradenton, and enjoys spending time with grandchildren, fishing, and playing golf. He earned his Associate’s degree from Manatee Junior College and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida. Bill joined the firm in 1983 after starting professionally in the financial industry in 1972 as a staff appraiser with First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Fort Myers. His valuation education includes a variety of courses administered through the Appraisal Institute, the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, and the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. Bill focuses on commercial, industrial, and various agricultural use properties. He also specializes in rural market areas surrounding Southwest Florida and is qualified as an expert witness in Florida District Court, 20th Judicial Circuit. Bill retired in 2017.

Timothy Rieckhoff

Tim relocated to Fort Myers with his family from Cincinnati, Ohio in 1964. He earned his Associate’s degree from Edison Community College in 1973 and his Bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal Communication from the University of Florida in 1975. Tim joined the firm in 1983 and his professional education includes courses completed through the Appraisal Institute. He’s also an avid investor and a member of Commercial Investment Professionals of Southwest Florida (CIP). Tim also holds a real estate broker license and is an instrument rated, private pilot (currently non-active). He is an Honorary Member of the Fort Myers Flying Club (over 40 years). His specialized expertise includes complex, multi-tenant commercial properties and aviation oriented properties. His aviation work includes municipal, regional, and international airport valuations and rental studies including airside and non-airside properties. Tim is also qualified as an expert witness in Florida District Court, 20th Judicial Circuit. Tim retired in 2017.
